When it comes to cover letters, I've seen-and tried-it all. I've written stiff, formal documents ("Dear Sir or Madame"), overly casual notes ("Hey guys! Just being good at your job won’t help you outside of your company if no one knows you or your work. You must be able to articulate in writing and in person what makes you good at the work you do.
