NORTHERN NEW JERSEY - DIRECTOR OF MANUFACTURING

Summary:

My client a small manufacturer of Avionics test equipment located in Northern, NJ is looking for a high energy manufacturing executive to support explosive growth in our business over the next few years due the commencement of multiple government production contracts. This individual will be a key participant in Company’s senior management team. Extensive background in lean manufacturing and electronics subcontract manufacturing are key requirements. Familiarity with government contracts and quality requirements represents a major plus. Only local candidates will be considered for this position.


Responsible for planning and direction of all manufacturing activities, including: materiel management; product assembly and test; and repair and calibration. Participates in product design activities by providing cost estimates and manufacturability viewpoints. Establishes and implements regulatory-compliant manufacturing policies, controls, and procedures. Interprets Company sales forecasts and product plans and establishes corollary manufacturing plans to assure an adequate and timely supply of manufactured products to efficiently fulfill sales orders. Meeting revenue forecasts by timely delivery of product is a key focus area and evaluation criteria.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.      <!--[endif]-->Manages all manufacturing activities, including planning, scheduling, organizing, and staffing; assures that all manufacturing groups are coordinated, and that personnel in each group are properly qualified, directed, trained, and motivated to perform their duties effectively.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.      <!--[endif]-->Develops and manages materiel and production scheduling and control systems to assure achievement of output schedules meeting Company delivery commitments; plans and develops manufacturing facilities and equipment for efficient production.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.      <!--[endif]-->Maintains materiel and parts inventories sufficient to assure the fulfillment of production schedules while also maximizing inventory turns.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.      <!--[endif]-->Works with accounting to establish standard costs and ensures that company quality objectives and factory cost objectives are met.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.      <!--[endif]-->Works with engineering department to determine subcontracting requirements and selects appropriate vendors to work under contract. Managing the cost and quality of subcontractors is a key job requirement.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->6.      <!--[endif]-->Works closely with the engineering and quality department in the roll out of new complex electronic products in accordance with ISO 9001 and other required quality standards. Experience in implementing lean manufacturing in a complex electronics manufacturing environment is essential and candidates without this experience will not be considered.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->7.      <!--[endif]-->Implements improved processes and management methods to generate higher ROI and workflow optimization.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->8.      <!--[endif]-->Works with the management team to help define future/continuing product plans, to help prioritize investment in growth opportunities, to help maximize transportability of hardware/software design modules, and to help determine the most cost-efficient designs; and improve product manufacturability.


Requirements:

      Excellent oral and written communications skills.  Must posses the ability to motivate and maintain effective working relationships with staff.  Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.  Ability to successfully work to reach company goals in an environment in which a wide degree of creativity and latitude is required. Fifteen or more years experience in increasingly responsible manufacturing management positions where excellent contract performance and employee management skills have been required.  Must have a strong background in lean manufacturing and knowledge of material management systems. Must have demonstrated ability to provide leadership in a timely and effective manner to lead a multi-million dollar manufacturing organization. Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills and knowledge of Government and commercial contracts.

     Related Bachelor’s degree with an engineering background is strongly preferred but candidates with strong track record of success in high growth manufacturing environments will be considered. MBA or Masters Degree would be a plus but is not required.

     APICS Certified in Production and Inventory Management (CPIM) and/or Certified Supply Chain Professional (CSCP) or similar credentials strongly preferred.

U.S. citizen with a security clearance or the ability to obtain a security clearance.

COMPENSATION
