Description: 

Our client can successfully service customers and meet internal objectives.  Responsibilities will include developing close relationships with the sales function and distribution centers and maintain accurate forecasts of future activity.  This position will provide control functions related to fulfillment, including: daily planning, intermediate/long term production scheduling, establishing and maintaining material inventories, and warehouse management function.  This position will also assist in improving the usage and functionality of ERP systems, especially related to materials and production control.

Responsibilities: 

Maintain accurate forecasts demand and production control

  • Develop strong internal (and external as needed) relationships across the organization so that real time demand adjustments can be included in forecasts
  • Utilize information on current customer, future prospects, and general market conditions to establish forecasts on an ongoing basis

Establish and maintain master schedule

  • Provide intermediate/long term scheduling to most efficiently utilize company assets
  • Work with plant manager on ‘bench level’ / daily schedules to meet customer needs and best utilize current assets
  • Work with sales function to integrate customer demand to meet shipments and use other methods as possible to level load production
  • Establish optimum batch sizes to meet warehouse and customer demand while minimizing production costs
  • Evaluate ability of capacity to fill current and future demand; identify needs for additional capacity and assist/manage resolution (internal capacity, toll blenders, distributors, etc.)
  • Utilize metrics for throughput and efficiency

Manage MRP / warehouse & inventory functions

  • Establish and monitor inventory levels as needed to service customers
  • Manage customer service levels while minimizing warehouse & inventory costs:
    • Use forecasts and inventory control practices to adjust limits as needed
    • Determine number and location of warehouses
  • Monitor material inventories, track production, and factors that may impact schedules and performance
  • Manage current and potential warehouse vendors
    • Evaluate performance vs costs
    • Maintain proper vendor relationship while managing risks
  • Evaluate and monitor BCI inventory at consignment locations
    • Develop and implement inventory control procedures
    • Maintain relationship with floor level customer personnel as needed
    • Assures quality of practices and validity of material data; coordinates and manages daily physical cycle counts and other inventory activities as needed
  • Utilize MRP functionality to automate tasks to support continued growth; establish risk mitigation methods to ensure delivery

Lead for company-wide ERP system

  • Trains other employees on ERP system, usage, etc.
  • Manages changes to application, vendor relationship, and internal working group
  • Increases and improves use of ERP system, such as standard/automated report generation, automated data input (barcode or RF), and use for functions not yet utilized
  • Working with IT, manage ERP infrastructure to meet company needs

      Supportive and other related activities:

  • Provide project management and scheduling assistance to new product development and other functions as requested
  • Support IT, capital projects, and other functions as requested
  • Assist with or lead projects to improve quality, efficiency, delivery, or overall cost
  • Travel, as needed, to support relationships, company growth, or execute projects
Qualifications and Requirements: 
  • Experience with metal finishing or specialty chemical industry preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in business (finance, applied economics, supply chain management) or a relevant technical area; advanced degree preferred
  • 5-20 years of experience in operations, inventory management, scheduling and planning, warehouse management, or related activities
  • Mastery of knowledge of ERP systems, MRP systems, and CRM systems
  • Strong organizational and communication skills with specific experience in improving cross-functional communication
  • Prior experience that demonstrates strong work ethic, ability to multi-task, and self-motivation
